Our daughter's recovery from sickle cell disease

Carol "Marriam' has been doing very well since the bone marrow transplant about 283 days ago. DNA tests indicate 100% donor cells (her brother's cells) and 0% sickle cell disease.

A new dawn

It about 14 hours to the innaguration of the first African-American President of the most powerful nation on earth. People all over the world have different expectations and hope in the new President. Africans in particular who have always been let down by their own leadership look forward towards the new President hoping that  his policies may make a positive change in their lives particularly in their economic and health fields. For people with sickle cell disease in Uganda and all over the world, their only hope is that the world may awaken and give sickle cell disease the attention that it deserves.

Abudallah Mulumba, UASCRF

We are proud parents of a 8 year old sickle cell survivor. We are grateful to God and are determined to continue increasing sickle cell disease awareness, through education, and telling our story to inspire so many children and their parents. We all have important values and ideas, things we care about and want to share. We feel our story can even bring hope to the sickle cell patients. Sickle cell is so dear to us.
